Tonight's episode of glee just aired and I have lots of beefs with the whole episode. I personally think that homosexuality is wrong. I believe it is against scripture (God destroyed multiple cities for the offense, not to mention the New Testament says those who partake of it will not inherit the kingdom of God) and I also believe it is unnatural. The parts just don't fit, plain and simple.
That being said, I do not treat homosexual people any differently than I do heterosexual people. I see homosexuality much in the same way that I see drunkenness. It is a sin, but it doesn't define the person. I don't stop interacting with a person because they drink, and I don't stop interacting with a person when I discover they lead a homosexual lifestyle. When I watch Glee, I have difficulty watching the homosexual characters portraying romantic relationships (much the same as I had difficulty watching the drunk episode, hated it). But I truly feel sorry for them and enraged for them when I see the bullying portrayed.
I know this is only a fictional television show, but in general, it shows what many high school students deal with on a day to day basis. And I don't think anyone should be bullied. I personally never saw any blatant examples of this in high school, nor was I ever on the receiving end of it, but I would have, as I do today, put a stop to the bullying. It is appalling to me that a person believes they can treat another human being in such a manner, just because they disagree with their lifestyles and life choices.
The prom episode in particular made me mad because Kurt was voted Prom Queen. This was done to humiliate him, which was awful. This happens at real schools. I don't know if people are specifically trying to hurt the person they think is gay, or are trying to be funny, or something else, but what are they truly trying to achieve when they do something like this? Not to mention how the poor girls who were nominated feel. As you saw in the episode, Quinn, Santana, Lauren and many other nominees were heartbroken. This is the closest any young girl in our society comes to being a princess and many of them dream of being crowned Queen from a young age. And because people are so negative, they lose this opportunity and a magical night becomes horrific. They don't even have the chance to lose to someone legitimately, they are losing to a young man. And something they held in high esteem, something they aspired to, was turned into a joke and a prank.
I was just appalled at the episode and the acts of bullying portrayed. Because these do come from somewhere. These things happen. And I just want people to be aware of these occurrences. It sucks. Be cool people, not bullies. Jerks.

(I can't even end this one on a happy note. No quote today)
